Aeronautical Decision
Making
Beginning in the mid-1980s the FAA produced a number of publications
that dealt with Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM). Although the
core material is similar, the concepts were adapted and examples
given for a variety of pilots and situations.
The first two Manuals were produced as part of a cooperative effort
between the FAA, Transport Canada, and the General Aviation Manufacturers
Association to develop and evaluate judgment training. The third
document (Pilot Judgment Evaluation) may also have been part of
that study. There is no source noted on the document, but it contains
some interesting suggestions for evaluating the judgment of pilots
undergoing a flight check.
All these manuals and documents are, to the best of my knowledge,
in the public domain -- so you can copy and redistribute them to
your heart's content.
